EXPLORATIONS OF THE HEART

If you find yourself drawn to art that you relate to or feel emotionally, than you are in the right place. My mission is to help heal and nourish feelings, through empathy and compassion. This is especially apparent in my heart print series of work. Each heart print signifies an emotion I have been through or a client has been through. I welcome you to take a look around, experience my art, share your feelings and engage with me! Visit my Blog, Instagram, or Facebook Page for info about my art and upcoming shows or events!

Holiday Bazaar Thank You!

There was such a great turn out of people interested in my art yesterday! I am getting over a cold and I spoke so much yesterday, that today I have no voice. It was totally worth it! I have a couple of great stories to share from my day yesterday. A few about my artwork and one about the kindness of my neighboring booth artist.

First, I want to thank all of the people who came out to the Bazaar yesterday. I really appreciate those family and friends who came to support me on my journey, I cannot thank you enough. A special shout out to my sister and my nephew who baby sat my booth so I could eat lunch, etc. My little 4-year old nephew really got into helping me talk up my art and had a blast handing out business cards! He showed a few people his favorite pictures and showed the artworks I had in my portfolio book to some really sweet ladies who came by. He was super cute and charmed them all! Also, I am so grateful for a friend, and former co-worker of mine who actually thought of me for this opportunity and connected me with this group to be a part of it.

On to the stories! So, I am ecstatic to announce that one of my artworks got a new home yesterday! Per-Spec-Tives is a an artwork I did a while ago. I originally was inspired by my mother who used to have a million reading glasses everywhere, including on her head and would constantly be in search of them. Later, when I looked at the art, I found new meaning. I felt that it represented the idea that we all see things quite differently through a mirage of colors, shapes, sizes and perspectives, hence the play on words in the title. I want to thank the lady who bought it. I am grateful for your understanding, support, and appreciation of my work.

Per-Spec-Tives

I want to also quickly address something I experienced while at the art show. I found there were some people who gawked at my prices, but I want to remind you that being an artist does not mean we all have to be starving. I have to pay for my materials and time. In order to create this art, I buy quality archival papers and mats for my work so your artwork will last a long time. Not to mention the costs of framing, etc. I also, have to buy the plates and the ink to print them. There is also time and money spent packing up all the art, display gear, etc, just so that someone can take a look at the art. I spend a lot of time on my artwork. Printmaking is a slow, labor intensive process and that is my favorite part. I take pride in my work and I hope that others can appreciate that when they see it. I know not everyone can afford to buy original artwork, but comparatively speaking I find my prices rather reasonable. Art is not something you measure by quantity. It is the quality of the work. When you buy my artwork you are buying emotion. You are buying a image to inspire awe and feeling in your life, not just a pretty picture to match the couch.

Now onto my story about kindness. My neighboring booth creates these amazing wood and enamel trays. Originally, I was setup to have a booth next to her, but there were doors and water fountains, so they moved me on the other side of the door and told her she could have a little more room for her booth. She dropped by to chat about the change for a moment and I explained why they decided to move me over a bit. She seemed super nice. Then later in the day, they opened some of the outside doors for guests and I am assuming to regulate the temperature, and I got really chilly. She walked by my booth, and I asked her if she was cold and said that I was really chilly. She offered her sweatshirt and things, and I remembered I could just drop my jacket over my shoulders when I sitting. but I was not sitting much. She noticed there was a vender selling resale clothing and bought a lovely blue pashmina type shawl. I was unaware of this, as I was busy chatting. She walks over to me and wrapped the shawl around me. I was grateful! I figured she bought it and I was borrowing it, so I thanked her. Later in the day, I went to bring it back to her, and she told me she bought it for me! I was completely shocked and in awe of such a stunning gesture of kindness to a person she barely knew! I was so shocked, that I just said thank you a few times, because I had no idea what else to say. Seriously, though, Kindness Is Cool! I am so excited to try to find a way to pay that kindness forward! Thank you again neighbor!
